My first completed artwork of 2023 is Fisherman’s Home at Lake Onslow, Central Otago.
When I visited this location it was bathed for just a moment in golden autumn light as the sun left for the day.
I imagined a fisherman, standing alone in the lake, the cold water pressing against his waders, impervious to the sandflies and listening to the persistent plops of the trout feeding. Did he catch anything? Is this the warm shelter, the place he called home that night?
