Over Christmas and New Years we were blessed with stunning weather in the Nelson region, so multiple trips to the Nelson Lakes National Park were in order.
Here are some photos from one of the trips to the southern end of the St Arnaud Range where we were met with high valley views, mirror still tarns and an abundance of almost every type of mountain daisy.
The walk begun with a run, well actually more like a jog, in boots. I dropped everyone at the start of the Waston Creek Route then drove back to the end of the Jameson Ridge Track, parked and jogged back. After quite some time I have completed 'Endless Evening at Lake Alexandrina'. Having visited the lake many times, this long calm evening pictured in the painting has been the most memorable. I arrived late on a balmy autumn afternoon having never visited before, and it was simply stunning, not a breath of wind with the last golden leaves grasping onto the tree branches. Time seemed eternal as the sun slowly sank behind the hills. More visits over the years...
