I studied this scene in an earlier petite painting, and have always meant to explore it in full size and intricate detail.
A front on assault of the Inkster's Bach was demanded, adhering to the rules of composition to showcase the soft curves of the water and the contrasting detail of the Boulder Bank and bach.
The annihilation of blue in this painting might be overwhelming for some, but I love the way the bach stands out using warmer tones. The hint of green in the foliage not only complements this but brings the scene back to nature.
