While working with some shadow blues in the background details at the moment I was thinking about the different tones of blues I used in 'Morning Birdsong at Breaker Bay'. The range of blue was huge in this artwork, I think I used every shade of blue that I had and mixed many more. I don't just use blue in the water and sky it's also used to knock back yellows and reds, create distance and shape the cool hollows in landscapes giving the hills more shape. In the details of 'Morning Birdsong at Breaker Bay' you can see the tones of blues layered amongst the greens in the fauna. This vibrant blend of blues and all of the other colours have been reproduced almost exactly in my art print of this painting, also with exquisite detail to complement the colours.
