Having not yet visited the Lake Coleridge area, we decided to have a look around on our way south. We arrived at Harper Campsite after driving for a few hours in the dark with only the faint silhouette of big beautiful snow topped mountain ranges towering ahead of us not knowing what to expect. In the morning the sun slowly rose around the peaks and as it warmed up we set off on our bikes up the big wide Wilberforce River. It was a beautiful ride, quietly following 4wd tracks up the river, although multiple shallow river crossings were involved that chilled the feet. The scenery for us was wonderful, vast - very different to what we are surrounded by in Nelson and the incline was gentle which made it easy travel for the kids. We ended up at Fanghill Hut which is a basic little hut nestled at the bottom of a very interesting looking valley. Looking forward to further exploring back into this area in years to come...
This painting is quite special, as it progresses it takes me back to the three-day, two-night summer adventure into the Mole Tops with the kids.
