Lake Emma - progression

Lake Emma - progression

Starting to place the reflections on Lake Emma - an exciting process as it changes the painting completely. The reflections on the water will be a challenge. I want to retain some softness here as to not take attention away from the intricately detailed mountain range above. In particular the shadow play on Mt Potts and snow detail on the surrounding peaks.
I've also added in the placement and base colours for the clouds. These also need to be very soft - achieved by using of all things make-up brushes which you can achieve very smooth blending with.

Although I have walked & jogged the Mt Robert many many times over the years I thought it would be nice time to take the kids 8 & 10 along to Lake Angelus and down the Cascade...
