Poolburn Dam progress. Putting down the early morning mid-tones on this new piece of art.
Poolburn Reservoir, also known as Poolburn Dam, is a reservoir in Central Otago, the water is used by farmers in the Ida Valley and gets pretty low by Autumn. It was quietly abandoned, apart from a passing farmer and very chilly at night.
No snow at all on the peaks, and this is the shortest day of the year!!! Can’t complain, it felt like late summer up there. The colours were spectacular, now to mix up some paint colours while the palette is fresh in the memory!
Last of three, is the Mapua Crimson painting. This artwork was painted to complement the Pinot Noir, and will be gracing the Shangri-La 2020 Pinot Noir labels as part of the Blackenbrook art series * Sunny Nelson - New Zealand.
