Although already late in the year this is the first original I have released for 2024. Sundown at Lake Morgan has been both a challenge and a pleasure to work on with the delicate sun haze fades combined with very subtle colour mixing and as always the intricate detail kept me very busy.
This painting transports me straight back to a memorable outing and was inspired by a three day, two night traverse of the tops from the Taramakau River, to Lake Morgan, Mt O’Shanessy and out via the Crooked River. This view in this painting captures the unique essence of a West Coat sunset throwing golden rays across the valleys from the top of Mt O’Shanessy.

The walk begun with a run, well actually more like a jog, in boots. I dropped everyone at the start of the Waston Creek Route then drove back to the end of the Jameson Ridge Track, parked and jogged back. After quite some time I have completed 'Endless Evening at Lake Alexandrina'. Having visited the lake many times, this long calm evening pictured in the painting has been the most memorable. I arrived late on a balmy autumn afternoon having never visited before, and it was simply stunning, not a breath of wind with the last golden leaves grasping onto the tree branches. Time seemed eternal as the sun slowly sank behind the hills. More visits over the years...
