While the mountains are freezing and the nights are long it's one of the best times of the year to settle in and put some quality time into painting… I have been making excellent progress on the artworks behind me in the above photo, already adding in lots of detail layers and rich washes of colour. Yet there's still not much to show, as these mid layers take time, and the more you add the better it gets.

The walk begun with a run, well actually more like a jog, in boots. I dropped everyone at the start of the Waston Creek Route then drove back to the end of the Jameson Ridge Track, parked and jogged back. After quite some time I have completed 'Endless Evening at Lake Alexandrina'. Having visited the lake many times, this long calm evening pictured in the painting has been the most memorable. I arrived late on a balmy autumn afternoon having never visited before, and it was simply stunning, not a breath of wind with the last golden leaves grasping onto the tree branches. Time seemed eternal as the sun slowly sank behind the hills. More visits over the years...
