The Ōrākei Basin, a stunning sheltered tidal lagoon nestled within a volcanic crater, is just a short drive from Auckland City. Here, the iconic boat sheds and moorings sit alongside the Ōrākei Road Bridge, where the full tide gently laps against their foundations, creating a serene and picturesque setting.
Michelle Bellamy has revisited the Ōrākei boat sheds numerous times, each visit capturing a unique moment in this tranquil environment. This artwork beautifully presents seven boats moored on the calm, reflective waters of the basin, with the tide rippling gently toward the viewer. The bright orange boat adds a vibrant contrast, drawing the eye across the scene and adding a thrilling touch to the color palette. The composition explores the subtle differences between each shed, blending the golds and greens with the rich turquoise blues of the sea, creating a harmonious and captivating portrayal of this beloved Auckland location.

Our black and white frames are made in New Zealand from pine and finished with a durable, smooth painted surface.
The brown and dark brown frames are also crafted from New Zealand pine, with a stained, textured finish that brings warmth and character to the artwork.
For a more natural look, our raw oak frame features a beautiful solid timber construction with a simple, untreated finish that allows the natural grain of the wood to show.
