If you've stood on the top of Mt Owen (at 1875m the highest peak in Kahurangi National Park) you'll recognize these tarns as the last water source before you are surrounded by a unique limestone karst landscape. This is if you climbed up from the Courthouse Flat campsite on the northern side which features varied bush and stunning rock formations.
These tarns are situated at 1500m and nestled amongst the tussocks, catching the last golden evening light.
