Yesterday I received this message: "Just to let you know I received your beautiful print today - thankyou. I grew up there and it brings back great memories. Sadly, my 12 week old pup managed to get it down from a height...
Hit the hills on the weekend, can’t tell you where it was. Top secret. Out on a deer mission this time with some new scenery to explore along the way. 12+ point stag wanted. No luck. Was not found.
Poolburn Dam progress. Putting down the early morning mid-tones on this new piece of art. Poolburn Reservoir, also known as Poolburn Dam, is a reservoir in Central Otago, the water is used by farmers in the Ida Valley and gets pretty low by Autumn. It was quietly abandoned, apart from a passing farmer and very chilly at night.
Getting a little sideways with this one. Early stages, layering up the tones in the tussock, each blade of tussock is gone over multiple times to bring it forward from the shadows and retain colour saturation.
No snow at all on the peaks, and this is the shortest day of the year!!! Can’t complain, it felt like late summer up there. The colours were spectacular, now to mix up some paint colours while the palette is fresh in the memory!
